Reasons to Get Clear Braces

By Gary Salesbury

Millions of people do not realize they should get their teeth straightened. New technologies in dental equipment are developing in labs every year. People who decide to have their teeth straightened now have another option available: clear braces. There are several benefits that will push people over the edge when deciding to wear braces.

The number one reason people choose this style is because they are clear in colour so no one is able to tell that they are wearing them. Children have always hated wearing the stainless steel type because they would be picked on at school. Now kids will not be called metal mouth on the playground.

Long ago, the stainless steel type had many colours to choose from. However, clear was not one of the colours. For that reason, orthodontists created the invisible style that looks more convenient. The invisible style creates confidence in people who would otherwise be ashamed of wearing braces with colour. Patients feel more comfortable wearing almost invisible type, and dentists have an easier role to persuade the patients to wear the braces for a longer period of their lives.

The invisible mouthpieces are made of a plastic resin that shapes around the teeth. The mouthpiece slides over the teeth instead of gluing on wires. No one will be able to notice the patient is wearing the invisible mouthpiece, unless they tell them. Patients schedule appointments with their dentists every two weeks to get a newly fitted mouthpiece. The invisible style does not use rubber bands or metal parts, unlike the steel style.

Invisible mouthpieces are removable. Brushing teeth is easy since there are no wires to get in the way. Unlike the permanent steel style, the mouthpiece is out during meals, so food does not get stuck in between the braces. The metal braces stick to the teeth permanently until the dentist removes them.

Many adults now wear the near invisible style mouth-guards. Adults can have their teeth getting straightened without anyone noticing that they wear anything over their teeth. With this new technology of choosing the invisible style, more Americans may straighten their smile.

Ever since clear braces hit the market, there has been a dramatic decrease in patients complaining of irritation. Patients who wear the steel style complain about scratches in their mouths and wires poking out. With the new innovation of the mouthpiece, there is no pain to complain about.

Dealing With Bruxism

By Jennifer Catigan

Have you experienced teeth grinding during your sleep? Or are you aware of the fact that you are grinding your teeth while you are fast asleep? These days there are plenty of people who suffer from temporo mandibular joint disorder due to this habit. Teeth grinding is sometimes called bruxism as it is medically called by a lot of dentists.

Bruxism is an extremely common sleeping problem that's indicated by teeth grinding and jaw clenching. This type of sleep disorder will turn out to be really distressing if it has already damaged the temporo mandibular joint.

I have got a co-worker that often complains that her husband is suffering from bruxism. Since this kind of sleep problem has already been present, now her husband suffers from TMJ disorder and now seeks a prompt medicinal treatment. Bruxism is a sleeping problem that is tough to get rid of, seeing as there are times the person is now aware that he's grinding his teeth and clenching his jaws.

Persons who suffer from temporo mandibular joint disorder of TMJ disorder, is characterized by swelling and tenderness of the temporo mandibular joint. Those that suffer from this, pain is the most common symptom that is being felt. To alleviate pain due to this sort of disorder, most dentists would suggest the taking of pain killers. Similarly, one must apply a cold compress on the area where pain is present. Massaging the TMJ will also help in alleviating pain.

Moreover, a lot of dentist would also suggest that the person that experiences bruxism must also apply NTI devices or mouth guards. With the application of these devices, teeth grinding and jaw clenching is significantly decreased. Because of this, TMJ symptoms are greatly lessened or even stopped. Similarly, the NTI device and the mouth guards are said to be particularly effective and safe to use.

Seven Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures that Won't Break the Bank

By Seth Davis

You do not have to spend a small fortune to get the smile that you have always dreamed about. It is easy to think that the cost of getting a great smile will be astronomical. Visiting your cosmetic dentist is more affordable than you may realize. There are seven top treatments available that can change the way that you smile.

Here are some procedures that can help improve your smile:

1) Bleach Trays - You can purchase take home bleaching trays that can whiten your smile up to five shades. The change will occur in less than two weeks and it only takes 15 minutes a day. You can easily find time to fit this into your busy schedule, when you see how much confidence you will have with your new brighter smile. You can purchase Teeth Whitening kits from your dentist or a local drugstore. Typically the cost of kits are between $15-$30.

2) Bleaching at the Dentist's Office - A professional dentist has special equipment and is familiar with techniques that can whiten the teeth in a single office visit. The dentist will choose the best method according to individual needs and can perform the procedure during a lunch break or right before work. This is the quickest and most convenient way to whiten the teeth.

3. Whitening Pens - For busy people with hectic lives, a whitening pen can be the perfect solution. Whitening pens can be used while driving in the car, watching television, or on a lunch break. While the results may not be as dramatic, they can brighten your smile in a flash.

4) Retainer - Many people have used a retainer briefly after their braces were taken off. However, over years without a retainer the teeth begin to move. This can make for an uneven or misaligned look. You can have a dentist make a new retainer to help move your teeth back into the correct alignment.

5) Mouth Trays -In a quick visit a dentist can make a mold of your teeth to give you a customized mouth guard. A mouth guard can help prevent you from grinding your teeth at night, which can cause jaw pain and cause tooth damage. Investing in a mouth tray to wear at night is a worthwhile investment when you already have costly dental work in place. For additional benefit, you can use the mouth guard with a prescription fluoride treatment to help prevent decay.

6. Aesthetic Contouring - When a small amount of chipping has occurred to the teeth, aesthetic contouring can make a world of difference. Aesthetic contouring is the simple act of reshaping the teeth slightly in order for them to match the others. The process does not take very long at all, and can often make a big difference in the overall appearance of the smile.

7. Professional Cleaning- It is recommended that every person visits the dentist once every six months for a good deep cleaning. The purpose of a professional cleaning is to clean the teeth of built up plaque and check the health of the gums. By maintaining general upkeep of your mouth, you can avoid dealing with larger problems later on.

There are many other procedures that a cosmetic dentist can perform for those on a budget. Always be sure to talk openly with your dentist about the results that you desire and the amount of money that you have to spend. By talking honestly, your dentist will be able to work with you during your visits to make sure that you are able to get the most bang for your buck. Before long, your friends and family members will be noticing your bright, beautiful smile!

Why Haven't You Been to Your Dentist?

By Aaron Vincett

Yes, you've noticed that dull aching pain in the back of your mouth, but have you been to the dentist about it, yet? Why not? Maybe because you hate and loath the dentist or perhaps you are new to the area and don't know any qualified health services that provide exceptional dental care for you or your kids? Or your worst nightmare has come true and you are one of the lucky people who needs their wisdom teeth removed. In any case this article will lead you in the correct direction for proper, and exceptional oral care.

So, you are looking for a dental provider in the area, but you want this dentist to be the absolute very best, why? Because this dentist is specifically for your little ones. Now, not many people know that instead of taking your little kids to a dentist who performs general dentistry, there is another option that you may want to think about taking the kidos to, its a dentist who specializes in pediatric dentistry. These specialists tend to understand Mom's concerns a bit more, they tend to also explain things in a manner that is not scary or alarming to your young ones. Pediatric dentistry provides a fun, colorful, and even distracting environment that leaves your kids walking away with a big toothy, healthy smile on their face instead of fear and dismay. One of the easiest ways to find a great dentist, either for you or the little ones is to simply ask around. Ask your trusted neighbors or family. They'll be the ones to give it to you honestly. If your not as comfortable asking people around you then the next best option would be to utilize a search engine of your choice.

Be specific when you search, for example, if your a West Jordan Family then you may want to consider West Jordan dentists or dentists West Jordan. By being more specific in your search you will get better results. Once you have that google search page pulled up google will typically have reviews for the dental services or dental care that was provided by that dentist. Check those reviews, some may be great, others not as great, but that's exactly what you are looking for, right?

You have to weed out all those dentists who are not worthy of your family or money. The best part about these reviews is they are all in a one-stop-shop, and those people are honest! They'll tell you if the dentist is honest, trustworthy, and family oriented. Now, these reviews will also give you a good idea of who is going to ease your hatred a loathsome attitude towards the dentist.

Now, if you are in need of those terrible wisdom teeth being removed then you, again, may want to ask around to see who is awesome and who maybe lacks a bit, but again, lets turn to our trusty search engine. Make sure you are specific, and type in something for your West Jordan family similar to West Jordan wisdom teeth. Look up those reviews, make a few calls, and get those sparkly whites all taken care of from your local dentists. Smiles all the way!

Smiles All Over

By Daniel Mcdonald

It has been said that plenty of options are available if you have an unsightly grin. When it comes to this, peroxide can be your new best friend. Having a professional whiten your teeth can amount to $500. If you are able to remove any staining on your chompers, try to avoid stain causing foods as much as possible. For some people, they prefer the peroxide solution that has been combined with hydrogen. Teeth whitening is a treatment that is referred to as cosmetic.

There is an alternative to professional procedures and this is a DIY mouth tray set. A standard DIY set will set you back around $200 on average. For some people, they save up by choosing to buy only the whitening agent and not the kit as a whole. Considering the expense that comes with this, not everyone likes the idea of the DIY kits. A lot of dough has been used to pay for procedures like these.

You might need some assistance when choosing the right kind of kit for your teeth. You can actually get ahead in this world if you have nice teeth and this is why people spend for it. As much as possible, you need to learn a lot about the kind of procedure that you will be undertaking.

As long as the directions are complied with, there is no problem with the kits that people can use at home. The kind of bleaching power that most of these at home kits have is up to a scale of 8. There is a tool that professionals use that make their efforts more successful in line with this.

Serving as an assisting agent in this case are the tools used in the process like the plasma lights. It is normal for the teeth to become rather sensitive when a treatment has been performed. A number of professionals have mentioned the weakness of toothpastes in delivering results. If you have the resources, spend on a dental treatment for your teeth. To whiten teeth from the inside out, you should consider dental bleaching.

When it comes to this, you need to clean your teeth to see to it that they remain white. Taking this into consideration, watch out for the abrasiveness of the product that you purchase. Basically, these are only ideal for cleaning rather than bleaching. Consulting a professional can assist you a lot when it comes to this. Certain types of discoloration are no match for dental procedures.

Broken and Cracked Teeth: What You Should Do Before Visiting Your Dentist

By Rob Green

Your teeth are quite strong, but can still break, chip or fracture (crack) relatively easily. A crack or break can happen for a couple reasons, including: tooth cavities weakening the tooth, having your face or mouth hit by something, falling or biting down on something hard.

Not all chipped or broken teeth cause pain. In fact , many minor cracks don't hurt . Sometimes you'll only come across the chip because you can feel the jagged area with your tongue. On the other hand, if a larger piece of a tooth breaks off, you can sometimes notice some pain or discomfort. This discomfort, due to a chipped or broken tooth, may be continual or you may notice that the pain comes and goes. In some cases you may exprience the pain while biting down on food. The reason behind this discomfort is that the nerve in the tooth could be damaged or at least exposed. When the nerve is exposed, cold or hot food and drinks and even air may cause a great deal of pain and discomfort.

If you crack or fracture a tooth, you may not even be able to tell from taking a look at it. The tooth may look totally normal, but can hurt when eating hot or cold foods. This change in the temperature of your mouth is in many cases the earliest warning signs of a cracked tooth. There's sadly, no way for you to treat a fractured tooth at home. You'll need to visit a dentist. In the case that your tooth hurts consistently, it is advised that you see your dentist as quickly as possible as it may suggest that you have damaged a nerve or a vein.

Now, in the event that you break a tooth, you need to see a dentist right away. Your dentist will be in a position to work out if this break was due to tooth rot (cavities), and whether the nerve in the tooth is at risk. If nerve damage is discovered, a root canal may be needed.

If you have broken a tooth, here are the steps you should take prior to getting to a dental office.

1. Using body temperature water, rinse your mouth thoroughly.
2. If bleeding happens, use gauze and apply pressure to the bleeding areas. This should be continued till bleeding ceases, which should take less than ten minutes.
3. Apply ice to the face or mouth area over the broken tooth. This is going to help alleviate discomfort and reduce the amount of swelling that happens.
4. If for whatever reason, you can not make it to an emergency dentist right away, then temp dental cement can be used. You'll be able to find this cement in most pharmacies. Cover the area of the broken tooth in your mouth with this cement, as directed on the package.

In the event that you break a tooth or believe that you may have cracked one, it is highly recommended that you contact an emergency dentist immediately.
