What Implanted Supported Replacement Teeth are Good For

By Emily Gonzalez

Studies done show how patients after 2 months of having implanted supported replacement teeth were able to increase their biting force to 85%. With regard to the average chewing force, it is able to increase by 300% compared to before implant treatment within 3 years. It is chewing ability that is roughly similar between people with healthy natural teeth and patients with implant supported teeth but the latter has a more superior ability than those who wear conventional dentures.

Missing teeth encourages wrinkling and premature aging. The bone surrounding the teeth must be stimulated from within; otherwise the body will dissolve it. This results in dentures or partials which repeatedly need to be realigned or remade. This may also lead to creases and wrinkles in the face.

Here, the face frowns at rest because the corners of the mouth pull down and form creases. The chin also comes to a point much like that of a witch. Jowls may form and make the face look unnatural. The tongue may actually enlarge because of the increased pressure placed on it from missing teeth.

In terms of a person's health, dentures can affect it physically and psychologically. You can experience bone loss with partial dentures and this is why after 5 years only 40% of partial denture wearers are still using the same dentures they started with. Bone loss continues due to this.

To save your teeth, you hold on to diseased teeth that destroys your jaw bone. Considering gum disease or periodontal disease, you lose the remaining bone apart from your teeth.

There was a study about the subperiosteal implant that reported a 93% success rate over the last ten years and from one other firm came about rates between 94% and 98%. This pertains to implant treatment for lower jaws with all missing teeth. You can say that this is great because the lower denture is the most problematic.

Success rates may be high but in this case success cannot be guaranteed. Usually, for a single or multiple missing teeth, dental implants can be utilized. A single tooth, several teeth, a section of the jaw, and even entire arches of teeth can be replaced nowadays. When it comes to a full set of permanent teeth, you can achieve this with dental implants even if you are in the state of advanced gum disease with its loose and uncomfortable infected teeth.

In getting an implant or a combination of implant types, there is no difficulty. What people have are different dental reconstruction needs and one jaw can have several different implants. Considering multiple problems, available today are several kinds of implants. With the utilization of multiple implant techniques comes the success of implants. With regard to implant selection, appearance, inconvenience, function, and comfort are important considerations.
