Replace your toothbrush regularly. Ideally you want to replace your toothbrush about three times a year. Your brush may look like new, but the bristles are most likely worn. The older the toothbrush, the less effective that it will be in doing its job. A very important aspect of good dental care is replacing old toothbrushes regularly.

Are you fond of ice chewing? It's best to stop that asap. Ice is hard and can break or damage teeth very easily. Sugarless gum is a far better option. Avoid putting ice into your drinks until you are no longer tempted.

Do you tend to use your teeth to open plastic packaging or bottles? End this habit right away. Keep a pair of small scissors around to do these jobs in order to avoid damaging, or even losing, a tooth. Additionally, you are introducing unknown germs in your mouth by doing this.

If you want a healthy mouth, you should avoid tobacco products. These products will damage your gums and your teeth and can cause cancer of the lips, mouth, throat and stomach. Any time you see anything different in your mouth, ensure it isn't cancer with your dentist.

Of course, most people don't have perfect teeth all their lives.
